The Management

Peter Trinder is Thymed’s CEO and a cofounder

• Peter came to Thymed from Berlin, where he was Business Development Manager with a small biotech company based in the Biotech Park at the Max-Dellbrück Center. Prior to this Peter spent several years with Cobra Therapeutics in the UK, where he was a Principal Scientist developing therapeutic dendritic cell-based vaccines against cancer.
• Peter has a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he worked on veterinary vaccines, after which he spent periods as a postdoctoral scientist studying complement and the immunology of autoimmune disease, infectious diseases and cancer.

Markus Maeurer is Thymed’s founding scientist and CSO

• Markus is Professor of Clinical Immunology at the Swedish National Center for Disease Control and the Microbiology and Tumor Biology Center at the Karolinska Institute, Solna, Sweden.
• Markus has a medical degree and doctorate from the University of Mainz and after a successful postdoctoral fellowship with Michael T. Lotze in Pittsburgh he was appointed Assistant Professor in Surgery, Oncology and Molecular Genetics.
• He returned to Mainz in 1996 and was appointed full professor in 1999. Markus was Director of the Microbiological Diagnostics Unit until his departure for Sweden in February 2005.

Elke Jäger is Thymed’s CMO

• Elke is of the Oncology Department at the Krankenhaus Nordwest in Frankfurt and is also Director of the Ludwig Institute Clinical Trials Center at the hospital.
• Elke studied medicine in Mainz, Würzburg and Cologne and obtained her doctorate from the University of Würzburg. She worked as a postdoctoral scientist with Martin Cheaver at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle prior to returning to Mainz, from where she moved to Frankfurt.

Thymed’s staff are highly qualified, highly motivated, flexible and out to help you. Our staff members include personalities such as:

Markus Wulf, Laboratory Manager

• Markus is head of Thymed’s laboratory services and also responsible for Thymed’s scientific data management systems. He joined Thymed from the Tumor Vaccination Center at the University of Mainz where he was a key member of the immune monitoring team. Prior to this Markus worked as a flow cytometry applications specialist with Beckman Coulter.
• He has a Masters Degree in Physics with Biophysics from the University of Frankfurt. An analytical mind – Markus just loves interpreting data!

Petra Höhn, Senior Immunologist

• Implementing novel assays is Petra’s favorite pastime.
• Petra has a PhD in immunology from the University of Mainz.
• She thrives on being at the cutting-edge of immunology.

Sandra Knapp, Senior Technician

• Sandra typifies the high quality of Thymed’s technical staff.
• Trained at Boehringer Ingelheim and with experience of working in big pharma and early-stage biotech Sandra understands the importance of quality laboratory work.

Edith Kaufmann, Quality Systems Manager

• There is nothing substandard that can get past Edith.
• Edith has guided Thymed through ISO 9001:2000 certification and to GLP accreditation and is the ultimate control freak!

Jutta Wasylyk, Administrative Assistant

• Jutta runs the front office. She is a problem solver, ensures nothing is forgotten and is completely unflappable.
